Data Structures for Dynamic and Multidimensional Gis
نویسنده
چکیده
The concept of embedding a data structure within a space of the same or higher dimension allows us to see the common features between various approaches to multidimensional GIS. Examination of the requirements of those data structures indicates the need for local maintenance, based on clear geometric conditions. This in turn shows how the structures may be made dynamic and kinetic, leading to practical implementations of dynamic and kinetic GIS applications.

A Dynamic Data Structure to Efficiently Find the Points below a Line and Estimate Their Number
A basic question in computational geometry is how to find the relationship between a set of points and a line in a real plane. In this paper, we present multidimensional data structures for N points that allow answering the following queries for any given input line: (1) estimate in O(log N) time the number of points below the line; (2) return in O(log N + k) time the k ≤ N points that are belo...

متن کاملAssessing Similarity of Geographic Processes and Events
The increased availability of spatiotemporal data collected from satellite imagery and other remote sensors provides opportunities for enhanced analysis of geographic phenomena. Much of the new data includes regular snapshots of the environment. Comparison of these snapshots can provide information about changes to the phenomena of interest. However, conventional GIS data models and analytical ...
